The Testifire XTR2 is taking the fire security industry by storm!
Whether you're getting to grips with your brand new Testifire XTR2 or still deciding whether to invest, we're taking you through everything you need to know about the latest innovation from Detector Testers.
Why the upgrade?
In recent years, there has been increased use of multi-sensor detectors. The demand for a single tester that could test smoke and heat detectors, either sequentially or in combination, was becoming more and more prominent. What's more, the development of standards worldwide means that there is greater pressure on engineers to ensure all detectors are tested in a compliant manner.
Enter the Testifire XTR2, a device with the capability to test both smoke and heat detectors in accordance with the latest standards, as well as the ability to instantly share reports with building owners and facility managers.
Test
New Features:
- All-in-one testing makes the Testifire XTR2 suitable for single and multi-sensor detectors - delivering on convenience and productivity, there is no need to switch between tools.
- Features an LED light to assist with dark areas.
- Clearing mode to clear smoke away from the detector after testing and reduce nuisance re-alarms.
- User-friendly touch screen interface.
- With a new optional adaptor, the Testifire XTR2 can test Aspirating Smoke Detection Systems.
- Detector Testers Connect App available on the App Store and Google Play.
The Testing Process
During the test, the XTR2 status LED will flash. When the detector activates, the XTR2 will sense this and automatically record a successful test in the app, and the status LED will flash green.
After a successful test, clearing mode will automatically begin, eliminating re-alarms. When clearing is underway, the status LED will flash white, which will last for a maximum of 30 seconds. Clearing can be ended earlier by lowering the XTR2 away from the detector. Clearing only occurs after a smoke test, including combination and sequential tests. It is not required for a heat test.
Proof of Testing
Being able to show proof of testing is more important now than ever as facility managers understand the significance of compliance in fire safety.
Test reports are automatically generated within the DT Connect App, and takes note of details such as location, date, time taken for the test to complete, and whether the device passed or failed the test. There is also the ability to add extra notes and information, such as note of any other testing that has been carried out, i.e. sounders, call points, and fire doors.
After this, you can request a signature from the responsible person on site which will then allow you to move on with closing the test job.
With the test job complete, the report is automatically compiled, detailing all the detectors that were tested, the result of each test, as well as any additional notes added by the engineer.
Sharing the Test Report
The test report can either be emailed directly from the app, or it can be accessed via the Cloud Portal by the service manager or office staff.
Report
Reporting is an essential part of the testing process. With the Testifire XTR2, the report uses all the data from the site visit and compiles it all together, presenting it in a format that can be easily shared and understood by the client and office staff.
Features of report:
- Failed tests are clearly highlighted at the top of the report
- Relevant notes and recommended actions clearly stated
- At the top of the report, there will be a summary of detectors that were tested alongside the result of the test.
- Notes of any other tests that have taken place are listed (i.e. fire doors, sounders).
- Clients' name and address
- Details of the technician
- Details of the XTR2 used
- Total test time
- Date/Time of visit
Share
There are two primary benefits to the sharing function with the Testifire XTR2:
- Details on site can be instantly shared with the client
- Provides the service company with detailed insights in terms of time taken to carry out testing, or comparisons between visits to site.
The report can be used to review the site visit and then sent to the client along with any invoices or additional paperwork. Sharing the test report in this way reduces the need for manual records to be kept whilst moving around on site, as well as providing automated proof of the test result for each detector.
Cloud Portal
The new DT Connect Cloud Portal provides data for the service company.
- Testing time is recorded which provides insight when quoting
- Updates on status of each XTR2: smoke, battery and generator percentage
- Stores date & site of last use, name of engineer, and warranty information
